Philosophy: "I work to incorporate preventive medicine with the promotion of health education within my practice. All patients expect and deserve care not only for acute issues, but access to preventative measures to preserve long term care and quality of life."
Septoplasty - Dr. Behler specializes in correcting a deviated septum and ruduction of the turbinates (the turbinates divide the nasal airway into three groove-like air passages – and are responsible for forcing inhaled air to flow in a steady, regular pattern around the largest possible surface of cilia and climate controlling tissue).
A Septoplasty is a corrective surgical procedure done to straighten the nasal septum, the partition between the two nasal cavities. Ideally, the septum should be centered in the nose. When it deviates into one of the cavities, it narrows that cavity and impedes airflow. This will cause snoring and decreased nasal efficiency. Often the inferior turbinate on the opposite side enlarges, which is termed compensatory hypertrophy. Nasal obstructions caused by serious deviations frequently lead to chronic sinus problems. Turbinate reduction may also be advised to further enlarge the nasal cavities. Most surgeries are completed in less than 45 minutes. This is one of the highest patient satisfaction surgeries performed by an Ear, Nose, & Throat Sepcialist.
Advanced Sinus Surgery - Dr. Behler has embraced new advances for patients with sinus disease and has acquired expertise and experience in endoscopic sinus surgery including the use of and computer aided (CT Image Guidance) sinus surgery.
Dr. Behler was the first physician in the State of Michigan to perform Balloon Sinuplasty as an in-office Procedure.
Pediatric Otolaryngology - Dr. Behler has great experience in pediatric ear nose and throat problems, treating them both medically and surgically. Dr. Behler underwent training at the University of Cincinnati Children's Hospital. He is Dr. Behler is on staff and provides inpatient consultation at Devos Children's Hospital, as well as Spectrum, St. Mary's, and Metro Health.

This is a rapidly changing field with new advances in recent years allowing for treatment of these conditions with more limited surgery or with non-surgical therapy.
Snoring and Sleep Apnea - These interrelated problems have become increasingly prevalent in recent history. Dr. Behler is one of the leading physicians in the surgical correction of snoring and sleep disturbance issues, including Septoplasty, turbinate surgery, and Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP).
